Tips for Advanced Therapeutic Svc

ATS is a true service to the greater Dayton community. I am a former pt (have since moved) and give Advanced Therapeutic Services 5 stars because they are really doing the greater Dayton area a huge service. I have referred my family members there recently and they are extremely satisfied. Yes, their building is ghetto (if you ask me, so are most of their patients). But if you want to go to a fancy building where rich people go, most likely you are going to be paying $400+ for a 10-minute appointment for the same service (your prescription) and your psychiatrist will be laughing all the way to the bank, which is what greedy doctors do (I should know, because I work with doctors). At ATS you pay $60-70 for a doctor's appointment. That is unheard of in most places in the country. Ridiculously low. The doctor that I went to was one of the most humble, down-to-earth doctors I have ever had. You can tell from the operations (low fees, ghetto building) that these psychiatrists are not just trying to get rich off of the woes of their patients. They are really trying to help a community out.

Also, from reading other people's reviews, it strikes me as funny that people don't seem to know the difference between a psychiatrist and psychologist/therapist/counselor. You see a psychiatrist (M.D.) for medication management, unless the psychiatrist explicitly states that they do psychotherapy sessions. You see a counselor/psychologist/therapist for psychotherapy. So if you are going to a psychiatrist expecting them to analyze your Daddy issues or the fact that your pet bird passed away, you are seeing the wrong mental health professional. Just a heads up.

Ghetto and unprofessional. This building is completely ghetto with an unprofessional staff. If you want to wait at least 30 minutes past your appointment time every time, write your name on a sticker to sign in and watch people fall in and out of conscience this is the place for you. You spend maybe 4 minutes tops with the doctor and like other users if you talk about your problem they'll write you a prescription for more medications then needed. If you loose your meds you're out of luck because no one there will help you. Expect to sit in a room full of chairs and old computers. If you don't want to feel like you're a methadone clinic I suggest you find a better place. The staff doesn't let you know a doctor is running late, or not there at all.

Not that great!. I really don't feel like this place is good if you are looking for a doctor and medication, unless you are looking for someone who will just write you a prescription and send you out the door, without listening to what you have to say. My experience with the doctor was very bad and no matter what I said, his answer was to add another medication, until I was eventually a walking zombie! Needless to say, I no longer see a doctor at ATS!

I have been in the waiting room before waiting to see my therapist, and I have seen patients go back to see their doc and they have literally been in/out in less than 10 minutes!! Considering the prescriptions are handwritten and it takes several minutes for the doc to write the prescriptions... well, what kind of doctor appointment is that?

However, I do think the therapists are good for the most part, at least, in my experience. And I still see a therapist at ATS. But, there have been times my therapist has cancelled on me and I have still shown up for my appointment. ATS said they tried to call and the phone just rang and rang, but it never rang at all. Nothing on the caller id showing their number, nothing. on the call log showing they called. Nothing. I find that unprofessional. And I'm glad I only live minutes away. If I had to drive more than a few minutes and find out my appointment was cancelled and nobody called me, I would be pretty ticked off.

I think that ATS has more patients than it can handle. It seems like most of Dayton and the surrounding area must go there.

One thing that bugs me is that it seems like I cannot get in to see my therapist when I really feel like I need to if something comes up. For example, there was a situation at one point and I felt like I needed to talk to her right away. The soonest I could get in to see her was nearly a month wait!

It is also usually difficult to get through on the phone. I'm usually on hold AT LEAST 10 minutes!

I got help!. First, for those of you who are looking for "medical therapy", that's good...for a little while. Those among the hundreds of people who come in looking for the same thing for that one reason, you can complain all you want but you will still wait, and for what? Pffftt, please.

Personally, I'm satisfied with ATS. I get what I need out of therapy and it's payed off well. No amount of money or anything material could have saved my life like ATS has. I've been introduced to a new way of living, and not only through the staff, but the people who go there as well. Some of you got to stop thinking so simple minded about things, broaden your horizon to new ideas, to a new way. That's all.

Stay Blessed! :)

Avoid this place if at all possible. This place is a disaster! We would commonly wait more than 1 1/2 hrs. or more for our appointment, e.g., we would be seen at 7:30 for a 6 o'clock appointment. More than once, with no forewarning, our doctor did not show up at all...forcing us to reschedule the appointment. The required 1 hr. counseling sessions were typically cut to 30 min. The office is severely over booked and understaffed, and nothing is being done to alleviate the problem. Don't even try calling them. I am put on hold every time I call, and I stay on hold about 10 minutes everytime. Customer service is horrid. Avoid this place if you can.

No problems here. It is my experience that if you want therapy, you should see a therapist. The psychiatrists on staff provide medical management services, and brief consults. The therapists at Advanced are easy to reach, and seem to have a genuine concern. I have been refered to one of the doctors and have had to wait my turn, however that seems to have gotten much better recently, since they are enforcing apppintment times, instead of first come first served. Anyhow I have no problems with the office and have always been treated with respect. They just need to work on getting someone to answer the phones a little quicker or at least give us the option to wait for someone instead of voicemail.

Filthy, dirty, unkept office. Appointment times are typically double and triple booked so plan on waiting for hours.

The word 'Therapeutic' in the business title would mor appropriately be replaced by 'Prescription Writing'

If your looking to be medicated, great, but If you need actual therapy, don't waist your time here.
