Piano bar with revolving door of musicians coming through the doors. Look for weekly drink specials and open mic nights.
Club 88

Club 88 is a nice urban, upscale place to go out and have a good time. It's not your typical club. Most of the people there are dressed nicely. Many of the men come in suits or directly from work. The drinks are good and seem to be larger than you would get at many other places. If they keep the riff raff out, this will be an awesome spot!
We went on a Friday night after eating at UNO's. We had a great time. The music was excellent - lot sof R & B. The only thing we didn't like is that after midnight, the music got a little too offensive R rated. This is not classy when every other word out of the artists mouth is a curse word or something dirty. It doesn't go with the classy, upscale atmosphere of the club.
So I'd recommend it on nights especially when there's live music.
And the Hot 102.9 girls are a hot mess!!!!!!
- Pros: Nice atmosphere, live music, jazz, great drinks, upscale crowd
- Cons: A little too much profanity in music after hours
Great bar good food and good drinks - get rid of the mexican woman

everything about this pleace is great. the live entertainment is the best in downtown. the food and drinks are good too. only thing - get rid of that annoying dirty mexican woman named esther. she really brings the whole place down - especially with her fake smile and bad reputation. im sure she has driven business away from the place. wow.
- Pros: good prices and food
- Cons: annoying mexican named esther
Best place to hang out and have a good drink Downtown!!!
by kakrohn at Citysearch
I work Downtown and greatly miss having a nice place to go after work and have a few drinks with friends. Luckily, a few months ago The 88 Club opened their doors to the world. After the 1st week I was finally able to make it in, it was WAY too busy at first (standing room only during Happy Hour). WHAT A GREAT PLACE --- I have lived all over the country and this place rivals the big greats in Chicago or New York!!! The first thing you see is the huge blue 88 neon logo, off to your left is the classy granite & cherry bar and to your right the cleanest restrooms in town.
The live bands & piano music EVERYDAY during Happy Hour are a great way to relax after a hard day in the office. The bartenders, Andrew & Jim, will fix you a good drink that will make everything seem better! Be careful, they seem to pour longer than most other places around here, also I noticed their "well" drinks are usually made from what others call their "top shelf" brands!
Being right across from the Schuster Centre and just down from the Victoria Theatre makes it a nice place to go with a date after the show. They are open later than most bars Downtown, I think midnight on weekdays & 2:30am on weekends.
This place has hints of a real upscale club... but then they have some fun things to do as well... such as the pool tables, old school jukebox and plasma TVs hanging all over the walls.
And where else can you buy a pack or cigarettes or high-end cigars after 8pm Downtown???
I can also say, their HUGE hamburgers are better than anything else you will find Downtown, even from the places that specialize in burgers. They also have a good shrimp cocktail and I'm sure the other things on the bar menu are just as good.
However, it's not really a restaurant... it's mainly a bar. You can stop next door at Uno's Chicago Pizza if you are real hungry... but you will miss out on the good music and cozy atmosphere.
- Pros: Downtown, classy, live music everyday
- Cons: Downtown, karaoke on Saturdays, super busy during Happy Hour
