Absolutely Horrible. My husband made reservations for our anniversary. After dinner he was taking me to a show at the Schuster. We were dressed nicely and ready for a night on the town. When we arrived at Mamma's we gave the host our name, he looked in his book and told us it would be just a few minutes. The place was packed. After 15 minutes and many people being seated before us my husband asked how much longer. The host said only a few more minutes. Another 15 minutes passed and more people were seated. I asked what the hold up was. The host told us we have to wait just like everyone else! I informed him that we had reservations and wanted to be seated. He then had the nerve to tell me they do not take reservations!!! I saw our last name in the book when we arrived! I asked him for a phone book because at the bottom of their add it said they took reservations. When I went to the host to show him this- he refused to look at it and snatched the book from my hands. I was horrified. I have never been treated like that in my life. I never ate their food but I will never go back. They are a horrible establishment.

Best Italian food in Dayton. Mamma di Salvo's dishes out the best Italian food in Dayton. We had gone there as a group after work for a send off dinner and the food was just amazing and a pleasant surprise as well.

Though the deep fried appetizers were not so appetizing, the antipasti was great and had a good blend of cold cuts, artichokes, and peppers.

The wine list was not so extensive and could be improved upon. We ended up ordering the hiuse wine by the glass.

The dinner though was awesome. The sauces were homemade tasty and unique in every aspect. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana (without cheese) which was great but could have done with lesser sauce. Others in our group ordered chicken marsala and clams which I heard were good but a littly too salty. Overall the food was amazing but a little on the saltier side.

The staff was friendly and accomodated 12 of us without reservations (which I forgot to make). I highly recommend reservations as the restaurant is not well equipped for large parties.

The secret's in the sauce...and the secret is salt. Mamma DiSalvo's came highly recommended to me as a great Italian eatery. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy it (and I'm not a picky eater by any means!). The waitress was wonderful, as were the other staff members. Unfortunately though, I found the vegetarian lasagna to be extremely salty. Before I visited the restaurant, I stopped by the store and bought their family brand marinara sauce but haven't used it yet to determine if it's a universal problem in their preparation, or if I just had a bad pan of pasta.

Fine Family Cuisine. The best thing about Mamma DI Salvo's Italian Restaurant is the atmosphere. You really feel at home when you walk in. All of the staff are so friendly and warm. The food is exquisite, and the service is timely and friendly also. This is a great place to take a first date or to go as a family. I highly recommend it. Being someone who has been to Italy, this restaurant's atmosphere reminds me of my trip!
