Does anyone here understand what they are doing?. People come to this site to read product or business reviews. If you are a homeowner posting a complaint here, do you understand that you are potentially harming your ability to sell your home if you ever decide to do so? If you must complain, you would be better served by complaining to your board of trustees, not slamming a product (your home) you might want to sell. Doing what you are doing here would be like Sara Lee making a commercial about how bad their cakes taste, wouldn't it? I would suggest that anyone who is interested in buying a home in Rona Village go see the place and decide for yourself instead of taking seriously anything posted here. It's a great place to live. Quiet, park-like with lots of trees and green space. Good neighbors, too. Except for the handful of malcontents who whine on City Search.
Maintenance Better But?.
Ironically just a few here at Rona Village (RV) say that maintenance is ok. Perhaps a little better, but most look at the sad condition of unpainted siding, damaged siding & mismatched sidewalks and say - No way!
Yet RV trustees paid out nearly 50% MORE than what the budget called for in "Contracts". & NO explanation accompanied this serious $10K overspending in the December newsletter. Hmmm?
While one RV trustee resigned this November that same person is still shown as the "Grounds" Chairperson on the December newsletter. Is it any wonder that serious CUTBACKS in lawn care & landscaping are proposed? Hmmm?
While RV trustees are legally bound to a maximum 3% increase in the assessment, something is amiss when a quarterly request that exceeds the 3% is published in the December newsletter. How do RV owners feel knowing Trustees et al have difficulty with simple arithmetic calculations? Hmmm?
While the winners of last years newly elected Trustees were announced, no actual voting count results were ever published in the newsletter to date months later. This left some residents to question whether their votes for new Trustees were really counted. Sound right? Or more like Afghanistan? Hmmm?
Not surprisingly some RV units are unoccupied. No figures of exactly what shortfalls in revenues are expected due to continued foreclosures here at RV have been published in newsletters or publicly presented by Trustees. Hmmm?
Trustees published in December's newsletter that the pool would NOT OPEN and lawncare CUT BACK. Pool money ($17000) would instead be used for roofs. One resident commented to me " I wonder whose?". Hmmm?
Owners of RV units (for rent) might want to make their renters are advised there wiil be no pool opened in 2010 per the last newletter!
RV owners might wish to be aware that Trustees budgeted in 2009 on spending $8000 in legal expenses, $6000 in accounting expenses, and $4000 in administration expenses. All these non-maintenance expenses against a total of $240,389 in revenues. Hmmm?
This does NOT include the over $5000 in engineering fees to prepare a "Reserve Study".
One person at the last vote to increase quarterly assessments simply stated that residents didn't trust the Trustees with more money. Does this sound like everybody is getting their maintenance? Hmmm?
While new asphalt was laid in RV, the curbs & sidewalks were not done first as is usual and most cost effective. Someone may benefit from this decision, but it's not likely to be all RV owners. Hmmm?
November's RV newletter informed residents of a new policy of no free announcements or advertisements in the monthly newsletter to RV owners. Differing viewpoints and opinions denied? Definitely sounds like change.
For the better? Probably not. Hmmm?
RV trustees have enlisted computers & a website to help with maintenance requests and repairs. Only time will tell whether this computerization and website will serve RV owners or simply be more money spent on "non-maintenance" expenses. Hmmm?

Is the worst yet to come at RV? While some cry out BIRD FLU or SWINE FLU....will RV owners experience something unmentioned? Hmmm?
MAINTENANCE CREW LET GO, VILLAGE IN SHAMBLES. WHAT HAVE WE COME TO????? THE ONLY MAINTENANCE TEAM WE HAVE KNOWN FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS WAS LET GO THURSDAY FOR "POOR WORK PERFORMANCE"???? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!! OUR NEW PRESIDENT, KATHY COOK DECIDED TO TAKE IT UPON HERSELF TO BULLY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES INTO TERMINATING A CREW THAT HAS 30 COMBINED YEARS EXP. AT OUR BELOVED VILLAGE! I ALONG WITH SEVERAL, AND I DO MEAN SEVERAL OTHER RESIDENTS ARE DEEPLY SADDENED BY THE NEWS OF THIS LUDACRIS TERMINATION AND I, BEING A RESIDENT OF THE VILLAGE FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS AM ACTUALLY CONTEMPLATING SELLING MY HOME AND MOVING OUT OF THIS SINKING SHIP! THE TRUSTEE MEMBERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. BOTH HARRY AND MIKE HAVE NOT ONLY GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT WAS ASKED OF THEM, BUT WAS ALSO ALWAYS THERE AT A MOMENTS NOTICE TO HANDLE ANY MAINTENANCE CONCERNS I HAD. SO POOR JOB PERFORMANCE??? Maintenance is great. Ive been a part of Rona Village for 20 yrs and i have never had any issues with maintenance.They are always prompt and get the job done right the first time.The community should appreciate them more and criticize a lot less.In closing our Rona Village maintenance team deserves kudos for all of their hard work and i look forward to many more great years of service.Thanks guys we appreciate you!
A beautiful, quiet community with reasonable fees..
I guess we can take it for granted that folks use this site to complain, although I wonder if they ever come back and report their problems have been solved. Something the complainers seem to have in common is a poor me, woe is me, victim mentality. No, the homeowners association isn't playing favorites, but maybe you aren't getting maintenance done when you want it done--so check back with the Maintenance Department and then if you don't get satisfaction raise the problem to the Board of Trustees. We can be both persistent and reasonable. The volunteer trustees certainly don't want members to receive less than satisfactory service, but do treat them like human beings; they're not being paid enough (like zero $) to take abuse.
Over thirty years ago, when I moved into Rona Village, we were all neighbors and eager to be active members of the association. So, okay, now it's a different world and we're a bigger community. Still, I would encourage homeowners to be involved (get to know your neighbors, read the monthly newsletter, attend monthly Board of Trustees meetings, etc.) Attitude matters!
rona village. pool cost 17000. quit hiring outside people to do job.do like most associations and let each homeowner have a key to enter i think maint is quite capable of maintaining chemicals in pool it does not need monitored the whole time its open. i have investigated and have found no other place that hires someone to do what rona village does. The cost of the pool itself is not 17,000. its the people you hire i would rather see maintenance get money then a outsider
Does not perform maintenance when requested by anyone outside the ruling body's clique. Just like High School for a bunch of Adults.
While living in this Condo Association since 1995, our family has asked their maintenance department to fix the gate on our carport. It is now Nov 2007, 12 years since moving in and the gate has yet to be fixed properly. My sister and I repaired it so it would actually close instead of staying open or swinging in the wind. The gate hangs from it's hinges and while we have been complaining about it for years, the rental property next door just had the gate entirely replaced and the only issue it had was the handle was coming off. Ours has been hanging on it wrong since 1995. In recent months, we have requested 10 times for the gate to be fixed and not once has the maintenance department contacted us let alone performed the work. The begining of Sept, our mother even gave the maintenance notice to the maintenance personnel instead of just relying on the slot drop and there has been no attempt to fix the issue. The most recent association news letter brags about how many maintenance issues they have fixed including the gates but again no work has been performed on it in years. They need to state how far behind on requests they are and what date they are working on at the present.
It is really fishy when someone in the Association's president, treasurer, secretary, etc complains about maintenance issues, it is fixed immediately. Instead those who are not buddies with the board end up not having properly maintained real estate. If we tried to sell the condo at this time, it would not sell until the maintenance is performed by the association. I'd prefer to live in an apartment where a rental agreement is more binding than the "association's" bylaws. The maintenance workers are all lazy and the funds spent to pay salaries aren't worth the quality of work they do complete. I would recommend avoiding anything to do with Rona Village because the maintenance goes undone and the only people who have their property fixed is the clique of the association.
place to avoid. The service provided by the maintenance department for the condo assocaiation needs to stop being lazy in the repairs and snow removal. In December of 2004 Ohio got 24" of snow the snow plow truck was seen driving around in Fairborn instead of clearing the streets and carport areas of Rona Village. Just had more snow fall today Feb 7, 2007 and I just passed the snow plow truck in a housing area approximately 4 miles from Rona Village. There is no one to address issues like this within the association. In general this is a place in which service is non existant and I would avoid living here.
