GREAT BAR AND RESTAURANT. Looking for good comfort food? Never tried German cuisine? This is the restaurant!

Start off with warm pretzel bread... or the smoked salmon appetizer or seafood fondue! Schnitzel with mushroom sauce is my favorite here... but honestly, there is NO bad dish on the menu. All main meals come with 2 sides. Be sure to get their potato pancakes and spatzel. Their red cabbage and potato salad are also excellent.. I usually end up having the Banana Crepe for dessert.

Eat here! You won't regret it!

Excellent. Excellent!!! Went there yesterday with my date, it was absolutely outstanding. We started with the pretzel sticks which were freshly baked, warm and soft.... I could have eaten another 4 of them. We also ordered an appetizer the "seafood fondue" which was creamy and had lots of seafood in it. For our entrees we ordered the "Chicken in Riesling" which was probably one of the best chicken dishes I have ever had and my date ordered the sausage sampler, he said it was out of this world. For dessert we ordered the "Banana Crunch Crepe" which was soooo good, I will just come back for that. They also have original German Hofbrau beer and I had a Martini from their list (Very Berry) and it was intensely flavorful, the server told us that they infuse their own vodkas with fruit, that's why it was so delicious. I will come back more often, the last time I was at Boulevard Haus was in the summer and the back patio is the best patio seating in town.... go to Boulevard Haus if you wanna stay away from the generic Chain restaurants in Dayton and this one is so worth it!

Love the new German concept!. I was pleasantly surprised when went to the new Boulevard Haus. I had the chicken pretzel burger and it was amazing! You get so much food for the price! Next time I'm going to try something a little more German. Everything going to the other tables looked and smelled so good! The staff was so friendly. The owner even came around to talk to us just to see how we were doing! The atmosphere is spectacular. We were seated in a loft area over the bar. It was perfect! I highly recommend this place!

German food in Downtown Dayton!. Upon entering, the dining area seems much smaller than expected, but there are additional areas to eat over by the bar, and also down in the basement. I was rather hoping for some traditional German music, but the establishment instead features "world music" (rap/dance type) that is popular in Germany right now, along with the occasional older song.

My wife ordered the Chicken Riesling for $19, while I got the Bavarian Sampler for $22. The Bavarian Sampler includes "Tender shortribs, currywurst, grilled bratwurst, wiener schnitzel, red cabbage, sauerkraut, spatzle" and mustard sauces for dipping. Bread and an excellent creamy butter were brought out to our table within a couple of minutes of placing our order. I have to say that the "pretzel bread" is excellent. I probably could have filled up on that alone.

The currywurst is a large sausage, cut up into small sections, with a sweet, tomato based sauce that has a very small amount of curry in it. It was not hot at all, and overall had a sweet taste. The shortribs was really one massive rib and chunk of meat. While it was adequate, it was also a mite overcooked. I think that the rib could benefit from marinating, to both enhance the flavor and internal moisture during cooking. Thankfully, this was only a detraction because it was so-so, while the rest of the meal was magnificent.

The grilled bratwurst was very good, and I especially enjoyed chunks dipped in the sweet mustard dipping sauce that was provided. The weiner schnitzel was also tasty, mild and flaky, and I enjoyed some of the more robust mustard sauce with it. The red cabbage was, as expected, mild and sweet. Often I find sauerkraut too bitter for my tastes, and I find myself drawn to the sweeter "bavarian" variety. While not as sweet as the bavarian style, Boulevard Haus's kraut was mild, and I surprised myself by finishing most of it. The spatzle was something new to me, a delightful tiny flattened ball of pasta with a hint of oil and herbs, which reminded me somewhat of pierogies.

If you are interested in trying a variety of German food, I would heartily recommend the Bavarian Sampler.

Dramatic French food pleases the eye and the palate at this bustling bistro in the Oregon Historic District.. The Scene
Dayton movers and shakers flock to this Oregon Historic District high roller for French food with flair. With two non-smoking dining rooms, a piano-equipped bar and a street-side patio, Cafe Boulevard has earned a reputation for fine dining and drinking that spills onto the sidewalk and makes pedestrians jealous.

The Food
While the restaurant originally opened with an emphasis on crepes, it has evolved into a high-end spot with a focus on presentations that turn heads. The menus change seasonally, but figure on such lively creations as shrimp lollipops with coconut almond dip or black sesame coated salmon with a sweet and hot chile sauce.

Dish to Die For
Enormous, whimsical dessert crepes are eye-catching and easily serve two.
